At Sycamore Hill, we offer a 2-day training course that includes both theoretical and practical assessment. For those looking to refresh their skills, a 1-day refresher course is also available.

Upon successful completion, you will receive a Certificate of Training in MEWP operation.

The course begins with theoretical sessions that cover essential topics such as MEWP legislation, health and safety protocols, and the proper use of equipment. Following the theory, participants will engage in practical training, learning how to safely prepare and operate MEWP machines in a variety of scenarios. The course also covers emergency lowering procedures to ensure you’re ready for any situation.

What Will Be Covered?

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

• Understand the basic construction, components, and functions of all controls and gauges

• Follow manufacturers' instructions, operator handbooks, duty charts, and comply with relevant legislation (PUWER, LOLER)

• Explain relevant documentation and interpret displayed information on the machine

• Conduct thorough pre-start and running checks

• Perform emergency lowering procedures

• Operate MEWP controls both from ground level and within the working platform

• Manoeuvre the MEWP safely, navigating tight spaces using forward and reverse motions

• Position the platform at maximum working height while remaining within safe operating parameters

• Place the machine into an out-of-service condition when necessary

• Safely load and unload the MEWP onto and off transporters
