However, without proper training in how to operate these machines safely, accidents can occur. Our course is designed to give you the skills and knowledge needed to operate a boom-trailed MEWP with confidence and precision.

At Sycamore Hill, we offer a comprehensive 2-day course that combines both theoretical instruction and practical assessment. For those needing to refresh their skills, a 1-day refresher course is also available.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate of training.

The course begins with theory sessions, covering key topics such as MEWP legislation and health and safety considerations. Following this, you'll engage in hands-on training to prepare and operate the machine in various real-world scenarios. The course also includes detailed emergency lowering procedures to ensure you're fully prepared in any situation.

What Will Be Covered?

By the end of the course, you will have gained the ability to:

• Identify the basic construction, components, and functions of all controls and gauges

• Follow manufacturers' instructions, operator handbooks, duty charts, and comply with relevant legislation (PUWER, LOLER)

• Understand and explain all necessary documentation and interpret displayed information on the machine

• Perform thorough pre-start and running checks

• Execute emergency lowering procedures

• Operate controls from both ground level and within the working platform

• Safely manoeuvre the MEWP through tight spaces and areas with limited access, using forward and reverse movements

• Position the platform at maximum working height while staying within safe operating parameters

• Place the machine into an out-of-service condition when necessary

• Safely load and unload the MEWP onto and off a transporter
