First Aid at Work +AED

Learn how to be a confident first aider and be familiar when using an AED with our combined course that helps prepare your team for first aid incidences.

First aid can be crucial until the professionals take over.

Our course is designed for you to administer first aid in the workplace in any industry setting.

You’ll learn the key techniques required to give first aid and you’ll concentrate more fully on how to operate an Automated External Defribrillator (AED).

The finer details

This is a three-day training and assessment course. You’ll learn the key techniques to administer first aid in various scenarios.

You will learn more about AEDs, understand the signs and symptoms where their use will be necessary, and understand how to manage and report on deploying AEDs.

At the end of the you will receive a certificate of training in Emergency First Aid at Work + AED. You’ll also get a workbook to take away and use as a handy reference guide.

Worth Noting:

First aid at work certificates are valid for three years and a two-day qualification course must be carried out within one month of expiry. Don’t leave it any longer or you’ll have to take a full first aid at work course.

Who should attend?

Our course is recommended if you have never taken First Aid training and will also need to know how to operate an AED in your workplace.

The training might also be appropriate if you have first aid training which has expired and you need to know how to operate an AED.

What will be covered?

At the end of the course you’ll be able to:

  • Assess situations and carry out appropriate action including informing emergency services:

    • Carry out cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

    • Place a casualty in the recovery position and know when to use this position

    • Know when and how to use the spinal injury recovery position

    • Clear obstructed airways

    • Control severe bleeding

    • Recognise and treat shock

    • Understand the requirements for a first aid kit and know any changes in first aid at work legislation or guidance

    • Recognise and treat head injuries

    • Recognise and treat major illnesses

    • Deal with burns and scalds

    • Deal with chemical contamination

    • Deal with poisons

    • Recognise and treat sprains, dislocations and fractures

    • Know when and how to move casualties safely

    • Recognise and treat other miscellaneous conditions

    • All of the above in a safe approved manner, with no risk to self or third party.

  • Understand the role of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) operator

  • Understand Incident Management

  • Understand the chain of survival

  • Recognise types of AEDs and AED accessories

  • Know about AED maintenance and how to register an AED

  • Understand anatomy and physiology of the heart

  • Recognise normal and abnormal heart rhythms

  • Recognise heart attack or angina

  • Understand DRAB (danger, response, airway, breathing)

  • Operate an AED

  • Understand the correct procedure for AED use with children

  • Understand the relevant documentation required after deploying an AED
